So, hi.

Keeping up with a blog has been harder than I thought it would be. This past week was one of those week's that I call being an unpaid teacher, because I had something to do every single day after school. I love my school though, and appreciate the way our principals treat us. Even though we had to stay until 7:00 on Thursday for parent/teacher conference, we were treated to subs, chips, drinks, and these amazing cupcakes. I did good. I only had one :)

I've still been eating right, with my baked apple oatmeal and pre-made salads. I only got in one workout though. I don't know what it's going to take to get my butt in gear. My husband is great, motivating me to come with him when I don't want to. He got in three nights of work-outs. The other two nights I was just too exhausted to move. But this week is promising to be less intense, so I'm hoping I'll do better.

We're hoping to book a cruise for our two year anniversary, so maybe that will be my motivation? What's your motivation for getting to the gym?

How did it get to be Tuesday?

I have absolutely no idea how it's been 4 days since I posted! It's been a really busy weekend, and a busy start of the week.

I did sorta bad yesterday, with donuts and a coke for breakfast :( I had my usual salad for lunch, with a babybel cheese wedge and a yoplait Key Lime Pie yogurt. That's pretty yummy, except it's a weird shade of green. We had tacos for dinner.

Today was slightly better. I'm not sure how many calories my peppermint mocha from my favorite coffee place was, but that was breakfast. Lunch was a Lean Cuisine with one of my favorite ice cream treats, a Smart Ones cookie dough ice cream bowl. It has 170 calories and it sooo yummy.

Dinner was this great deer chili recipe.

http://recipes.sparkpeople.com/recipe-calories.asp?recipe=73524

Holy yum. I love chili, and we have a ton of deer meat we are using up. I still buy the occasional chicken breast package, but we have deer cut into tenderloins, steaks, roasts, and ground deer, so it pretty much covers all cuts of meat. Some studies say deer is even leaner than turkey, and has more protein too.

It doesn't say how much a serving is, but I guessed and dished out a cup with 3 saltines and a sprinkle of reduced fat shredded cheddar cheese. If you don't have any deer (and you probably don't), ground turkey is a great alternative. Ground beef is fine if you get a higher percentage of lean beef, say 90/10. But I'm so glad we have some super healthy meat already stocked up in the freezer!

One week down!

Today marks a week since I started my process of losing weight, eating healthier, and exercising. So far, I feel pretty good about everything, except the exercising.

I hate exercising so much. I hate getting sweaty, having to shower and change clothes, finding somewhere to park, the machines, the embarrassment of not being able to keep up in class, all of it. I tried xbox working out, but after an hour and only about 100 calories burned, I got burned out. Everyone keeps saying, "you just need to find something you like!" Meh. I've tried it all. Work out games, dance exercise videos, step class, zumba, spinning, treadmill, elliptical. I hate them all. So this is something I've really got to work on. I packed my bag several days, only to end up going only once. It's just so frustrating that I know I want to lose weight, but working out is such a hateful event, that I slack off and lose no weight.

So whining over, I will focus on doing better next week. How did you do with any exercise goals you've set? I would love to hear some feedback on how to make things easier/better/whatever on myself.

Food wise, I feel really good about my food choices. Not a single fast food item or donut touched my lips in a week! I still have such insane chocolate cravings though, it's ridiculous. I did have chicken rotel for lunch one day, but otherwise I really stuck to my breakfasts and planned lunches. We had pizza for dinner one night, but I stuck to two slices (460 calories for two slices of ham and pineapple).

Tonight for dinner was this dish: http://allrecipes.com/recipe/italian-breaded-pork-chops/detail.aspx

I had originally figured it was pretty healthy. Just breadcrumbs and baked pork chops, but logging in to the site later (Shane was in charge of dinner tonight) I realized that one chop had 527 calories! What the what! So then I felt really guilty. But it was good!

Today was. . .

not a good food day.

I started out good with breakfast. I've been eating two of those spring chicken cups (zapped in the microwave for about 30 seconds, they're pretty good) for breakfast the past couple days, and even had a Lean Cuisine and a Yoplait packed for lunch.

Oh but then. We ordered in for lunch, and I had the cheesiest chicken rotel ever. And sugared up sweet potato casserole. It was so yum. I even polished off half a Hershey's :( And no work out, because by the time I got home from school, I headed to a fellow teacher's house to decide on some decal work.

We had chicken and dumplings there, so not sure about the calorie count.

Ahh. But, tomorrow is another day.

Today's Meals

So, I'm whipping up these babies tonight for breakfast:

http://www.wellsphere.com/weight-loss-article/shed-kitchen-spring-chicken-cups/1090276

I'll let you know how they turn out. I'm kinda iffy about them, but the Hungry Girl's egg in a cup didn't turn out so well for me (http://www.hungry-girl.com/newsletters/raw/1256). Remember how I was saying convenience is my downfall? Yeah, I tried to make that this morning and when it was bleh, I ate two pop-tarts.

For lunch I had a lean cuisine, a few wheat thins with a Laughing Cow cheese wedge, and a Boston Creme Pie by yoplait.

Dinner was super yummy, so yummy to my tummy that I didn't even remember to take a snapshot of it. I'm hoping it was healthy, so here's an add-up of the calories.

Spinach salad mix- (1 cup = 10 calories)
2 tbsp of balsamic vinaigrette (90 calories)
2 oz of Tyson canned chicken (60 calories)
1 tbsp of bleu cheese (20 calories)
1 tbsp of cranberries (20 calories)

Grand total: 200 calories! yay! Some apple chunks would also be delicious in this. I'm so excited to find a salad that I love without it having one meelion calories, like a friend chicken salad doused in ranch and shredded cheese. Packing up the rest of the salad now in individual containers to carry to lunch for the rest of the week!

1/16/12

Nothing fancy going on today. I had a bowl of Special K for lunch, a Lean Cuisine for lunch, and we're headed to Longhorn for dinner. Not sure what I'm going to eat, because I usually get the chicken smothered in cheese and bacon, which I'm sure has a million calories. I probably won't be able to resist the baked sweet potato though with butter and cinnamon.

How do you decide what to eat when you go? Preplan?

Skinny Chicken Parm

So, this is what's happening for dinner:

IMAG0268

Nom nom nom. What's that? I'm not supposed to eat cheesy garlic Texas Toast (1 piece, 170 calories) on a diet? Yeah well, when the dinner you eat only has around 300 calories, I think I'll take some texas toast too.

It's from: http://www.feedingmytemple.com/2011/10/skinny-chicken-parmesan-recipe.html

Except it looks different because I'm the idiot the quartered my chicken instead of just halving it.

IMAG0267

The website says a serving is one chicken breast, but that it serves four. So, I'm kinda confused about the how it serves four? Maybe a serving size is 1/2 a chicken breast? Hm.

My husband's verdict was, "This is delicious!" And I agree!
